Notices - Tips and Details



1.    Formal – The tone, style, and language of the Notice should be formal and to the point. Remember to keep the language simple.
2.     Factual – The content should be factual i.e. it should contain only important facts and details in a concise manner.
3.     Be Brief – State everything as briefly as possible and stick to the word limit of 50 words.
4.     Start with creating three lines of a box, the top line and the two lines on the sides. Do not put the bottom line.
5.     Once the three lines are set-up, mention the name and location of the school or organization or office on behalf of which you are writing the Notice.
6.     Then, put the word ‘NOTICE’ below that in Capital Letters.
7.     Give an appropriate heading to it. The heading should be brief and should mention the main purpose clearly.
8.     Mention the date in the format ‘16th July 2016’.
9.    Start off with mentioning name of your department/team/group followed by details of the target-group (people you are targeting).
10.  Mention the purpose of the notice.
11.  Provide all the relevant details like date, venue, time, etc.
12.  Mention name and details of the person to be contacted for extra information. Usually, it would be better to simply write, “Please contact the undersigned for more details.”
13.  At the bottom, put your name, designation, and signature. Remember, you need to put these details as mentioned in the question.
14.  Close the box by putting the bottom line.

Diary Entry - Details



Unlike other forms of Writing in the curriculum like Letters, Articles, and Debates, Diary Writing is personal and informal in nature and construction. An entry in the Diary can be based on a personal experience, an event, or something else that happened during the day.
Points to remember:
1.     The focus areas should be "Creativity, imagination and expression".
2.    It should be written in first person since this is supposed to be a personal story and one should write as if he/she was really a part of the situation.
3.    You should not write about everyday things and only about matters of some significance should be recorded with important details of the place, time, people, or things that were part of the event.
4.     It is a secret record of one’s life, so one can be very honest about one’s feelings and emotions.
5.    The style and tone is generally informal and personal. However, it depends on the subject. Sometimes the tone can be philosophical and reflective too.
6.     Events mentioned should be in a correct order.
